Literature Text

A lone young man, just leaving his teenage years behind, stands outside a forest. He's removing a shotgun from his truck.

He has been given one job: Kill a wolf that has been accused of attacking his town's animals.

Many hunters have tried to catch what they described as "A silvery beast with the eyes and soul of a demon".

The man grabs his gun, and goes into the forest.

The Hunt has begun.

--

Six hours.

Six long and painful hours the man has been tracking the silver demon. Everywhere he looks, it seems to send him in circles.

At last, he comes to a stop.

A few yards away lays a small cave like structure.

A wolf's den.

The hunter knew the wolf would most likely come back to the den eventually, so he sat behind some vegetation, and prepared to wait.

--

It was an hour or so before the hunter heard a twig snap. He jumped to his feet, and crouched behind a bush, shotgun ready.

A silver wolf stood on top of the den. He was staring directly at the hunter with golden yellow eyes, unmoving.

The hunter looked into the eyes of the wolf. He saw not a demon, but a wise and majestic creature. All this time he had believed the tales of death and demonic actions. But now, he saw that there was nothing evil about the wolf. It was simply surviving the only way it knew, like any other would.

The wolf stared as the hunter lowered his gun, then took off running. Six other wolves followed their leader, the rest of his pack.

The hunter did not follow. Instead, he turned and left the forest with new eyes and a new mind.

--

Years have passed. The young man has a family now, and they have started a protection group for wolves and other creatures that have been cruelly hunted for sport. They call themselves Wolf Brothers.

The man is walking in the forest with his son and daughter, and his wife. They are looking for hunters and traps to get rid of.

Suddenly, the man's son tugs on his mother's dress, pointing at a hill up ahead.

A silver wolf stands there, a few young pups beside him.

The man recognizes the wolf. This is the wolf he was sent to hunt, all those years ago.

The man and the wolf meet their gazes, and the man gives a small nod. A nod of acknowledgement, and respect.

The wolf seems to nod, then turns and leaves with the pups.

The woman hugs her husband as the children begin asking about the wolf. She knows about the wolf as well.

The man smiles at his children, and tells them.

"He is a Wolf Brother."
I wrote this after watching a few videos that encourage wolf protection and discourage wolf hunting for sport.

Personally, I think hunting wolves for sport is sick and cruel. Wolves deserve to live here just as much as humans. Most of the time they don't even do anything wrong. Humans just decide it would be fun to go kill wolves and act like it's some big accomplishment. Guess what guys? IT'S NOT.

Thats my opinion, so if you flame me about it, I'll block your comments and report you for spam. Don't like it, don't read it.
